In the 90's, this was one of our favorite places. Alas, even with restaurant.com certificates, it's not any more. Food is meh. After one encounter with some oddly tasting French onion soup, I fell ill hours later. Trust me, I tried to like this place, but I just can't anymore.

We have lived nearby for years. The food has steadily declined in quality, while the prices steadily increase. They must think they are a fine dining establishment, as they slip in a 75 cents charge for Blue Cheese dressing! The wait staff is now referred to as "Terry's Girls"?? What kind of establishment is THAT supposed to refer to. Could be a nice place.. it does have a cute atmosphere.. but good food should be .. the hallmark of any good restaurant. We don't frequent Terry's any more.. we go to where the (good ) food is.

Came here because we had a groupon. Great beer selection: 24 on tap, 102 bottles, 4 cans. $5 for 4 beer tasting is good. Beer cheese was excellent. I ordered prime rib which was good. He ordered filet which was good. The sides were really bland. No seasoning on the baked or red skin potatoes. I'd come back though. Generally tasty.

This place needs to step it up. I like the remodel, but miss the fresh seafood selections offered when it was basically, a dive a few years ago. The old blackened tuna was to die for, and when they had it, the Baked Amberjack was four star quality. Now, it's just another sports bar with an average menu. Too bad.

Upbeat atmosphere, and the air was a-kickin' on a hot day. Friendly, attentive service. Doo-dads to check out whilst waiting for your food. Fun video games! Great beer selection. Got our crab stuffed mushrooms and they were to DIE for! SO incredibly good with warm and gooey cheese and crab flavor explosions. Pricey, but worth it. Got my turkey pretzel sandwich and it was...small. Pretzel bun about the size of my palm, like you find at the grocery store, a small amount of cheese and turkey in there somewhere. Some sauce or a tomato slice was needed...it was kinda dry. For $10 it doesn't come with anything, either-thank God I went for the upsold fries and slaw. Small amounts of both, but they were tasty. The sides are served on your plate in separate little dishes-I get the feeling this is to help cover empty plate space with conservative amounts of food. The husband's perch was great, but a meager portion as well. We enjoyed, but sadly our festive mood was tainted by the prices. What we spent on one app, 2 meals (one entree, one sandwich), fountain drinks, and a dessert at Terry's would have afforded us a nice, full dinner at an upscale place. We hoped to discover a regular hangout with a "nauty" vibe. In the end, our booty was pillaged with no takeout containers to show for it! Ah, but those stuffed mushrooms beckon from the rocks like the delectable crab & cheese covered sirens they are. Wallets, ahoy!

We haven't been here to eat in awhile. So happy we came for brunch. Steak eggs Benedict is really good. Sort of spicy Cajun cause is tasty. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly. Ham and Gouda pretzel sandwich is great. Comes with cole slaw that's good. Ham is grilled before it's put on the sandwich - makes it great. We will be back for more brunch and maybe a prime rib! $12.95 endless Bloody Mary or mimosa

They serve brunch on Sunday mornings, so a Western Frittata did the trick. On a previous visit, they were running a *twin lobster tails* for $24 special. My meal was good, but I found the portions to be a bit small for the price. I guess I'm used to all the diner-style restaurants in the area and was a bit disappointed when presented with my order. Otherwise, the service was good and the meal came out in good time, as well. I will stop in from time to time, but probably more to have a drink than to have a meal.

I'm surprised at all the hate this place has gotten on Yelp, as I have eaten here a minimum of three times and have found it more than satisfactory each time. The building is kind of on its own right off Jefferson, and there is adequate parking on numerous ends of the building. The atmosphere is pretty good inside, especially at the bar. It is a large bar that looks classy, and it's nice to have a great bar when you have around 50 craft beers on tap -- which they claim is the most beers on tap in Macomb County. I wouldn't doubt it. The beers are amazing, too, and from all over Michigan and the U.S. I give it an A+ for beverages. The menu is also big enough to always find something new, while it's not too big that's it's overwhelming. They have calamari and chips and dip as starters, or you can go straight into the thick of things. I've eaten lobster mac, ribs and burgers here -- all very good and filling. The prices are kind of on the steeper side, but it's really not all that bad at all when you consider what you get with most meals: soup or salad (salads are good), plus a side with the entree. For the ribs you get a choice of potato, which includes mashed, redskin, French fries, etc. The fries are pretty solid, too. The service is usually always very good as well. One time we had kind of a slow experience with a server, but it was just her I think because all the other times have been above average in terms of service -- even during bustling Friday or Saturday evenings. I enjoy coming here, close to the water, and enjoying good drinks and good food with good people. And just a note: the person who owns this establishment also owns Ale Mary's in Royal Oak. Both are newer favorites of mine.

I have see better crab legs down the street at the Chinese Buffet for $12.95. I had the Lobster Bisque and I could tell it had been microwaved even after I asked if it was prepared fresh? They claim to have the best seafood in Macomb County which I feel is a very long stretch considering I have had much better meals at Red Lobster. It only earned a second star because some of the staff I know are friendly and personable and attentive and do a good job.

Smells more divey than it looks. High probability of obnoxious drunk dude. Food was okay, but nothing memorable. Beer seemed warmer than it should have been. Seems like an adequate neighborhood bar for weekend day drinking, but not worth a 15 minute drive.

I am updating my review as the place has gotten a lot better since the new owner took over. Good foo, great beer selection and fun specials throughout the week. One weird thing though. There's a green Kia parked right at the front door every day. (I live down the street and drive by a few time a day). It seems it's an employee as it really is there every single day. Why take a space right in front of the door? Terry's has limited parking as it is - you'd think workers would park father away.

It's been a while since going here and if that's the case with you you're in for a treat. Tried many things over two days and everything.....EVERYTHING was delicious. Lobster Bisque, Clam Chowder, Burnt Ends, Cheese Curds with a delicious tomato coulis, Calamari, Crab-stuffed Mushrooms, Brisket Sliders, Prime Rib, Crabby Chicken, Chris Craft Burger, Fish & Chips, Lobsters Tacos, & Sam Adams Beer-battered Cod. Great salads with many homemade dressings. No bread basket unless you ask which is nice for those of us trying to resist the temptation. Service was superb the first night but they were clearly overwhelmed the second night. The ONLY criticism we had was with the cornbread served with the Burnt Ends. Not only was it hard and pretty flavorless but they only give you one tiny triangle. Not to ALL restaurants: consider that most appetizers are shared and put at least 2 of something like the cornbread on the plate. I also would serve an even number of items, but hey, that's just me.

After a few years of avoiding Terrys they are now back in my rotation of places to go. They have pared their menu down which is a good thing and expanded their craft beer selections. For starters we had the McClures fried pickles, OMG so good. Now fried pickles will never be the same unless they are McClures. I ordered the frog legs and honestly they could have been confused as chicken legs as they were so big. Lightly breaded and served with pot, soup and cole slaw. It was yummy. The better half ordered the seafood fettuccine, and it was also just as tasty. Thank you Terrys for getting back to basics.

Updated Review: Out first visit was with the old menu and prior to their expansion to 50 taps. While our last visit was 5 stars based on food, service and beverage options, this visit is worthy of 5+ stars. From our wait at the bar for our table, to service once sat, service set the bar high last night. Attention to detail. Friendly. New food menu? Incredible. Slimmed down from what we had on our last visit, the fewer options the better. Nice work Terry's Terrace! Expanded 50 taps of beer. Wow. While some of the standards exist, they have many, many, of the hard to find (tap or bottles) craft beers. Knee Deep Simtra? Seriously? AND you can get a growler of your favorite beer to go? It's like a candy store but for lovers of great beer. Hour drive one way and well worth it. We'll be back!

The food was not bad, I had the lobster bisque and the Shandy Fish and Chips, I will say the fries were the best part of the meal. The lobster bisque was good, not the best ive ever had however not bad, one thing I did not like is the meal comes with soup, salad or coleslaw, I asked if I could have the lobster bisque for an up charge and was told they don't do that. They have a very extensive craft beer menu, and it seems to rotate quite often which is nice.

I had a review on here a while back, but management must have been successful at having it removed somehow, despite the fact that Yelp claims that it can't happen. Management/Ownership was very responsive, offered me an invite to come in and have dinner on them and write a new review. I agreed, but they never sent the gift card they promised. What better way to further anger a former client, but to offer them something for their horrible experience, then never deliver it to them... I honestly believe they had every intention of making good on the promise, but their follow through is horrible, as is their operation of their restaurant. This is the jist of my prior review: The food is generally over priced and poorly executed. The Crabby Chicken sounds like an amazing dish, but rather than perfectly cooked, oven baked chicken breast (first mistake, who "oven bakes" chicken and has it taste good?) with amazing crab sauce and pieces of lump crab meat, it's two pieces of saturated, soggy chicken (of course it's soggy, it sat in an oven for an hour, and on a hot plate or in a fridge waiting to get re-heated), with tiny bits of imitation "krab" with a K. The dish is over priced and horrible for what it is. The beer selection is underwhelming and their beers are overpriced as well. For a company that boasts that their beer selections are hand picked by Heather Ritts, someone allegedly affiliated with the Cicerone Program, how they have 6 taps dedicated to Miller Light, Bud Light, "Badass" (Kid Rock's version of Budwiser), Killians, Labatt Blue, and Bluemoon is beyond me. Their two, count them, two "craft beers" on tap are garbage that I've never heard of. If it were my restaurant someone would be fired, and her name would be Heather. Either ownership is getting in the way of a competent staff, or ownership isn't hiring competent people. Either way the result is the same. Over priced food and drinks, and piss poor service.

The place smells. The food is not that good. The service is awful. Plus there's a trashy blonde lady who pulls her pants down right outside the business and pees on their wall. All. The. Time. In front of everyone at the light. Go to the Sandbar. Better food and overall better place to go.

I used to really enjoy this place in my family even had a couple of get togethers is here I love the decorations its so awkward and wonderful at the same time I remember when "licor 43" came out and they had it on special this had me sold at this place because I don't drink often but when I do I'm very picky and often requests of weird out there things. The food is nothing amazing and if you have a party there make sure you have a good waitress because this can make it or break it for you. If you're in the near area try to check out.

Though Owner previously contacted me in regard to the inadequacy of their $7 "free meal," just received another one in the mail. TT's should either remove "FREE MEAL" from their mailers, or remove "Value to $7" and actually give their birthday honorees a FREE MEAL with a price that exists on their menu.

I have been a Terry's customer for years. I keep coming back because the service is awesome and the food is always perfect. My favorite thing about Terry's is the rewards card and the endless crab legs. Over the years, I have brought many friends with me to Terrys - or T Dog's, as I like to call it. These friends have become repeat customers and regulars at the bar. When it comes to dining out, I really love that the restaurant is super clean, the bathrooms are spotless and the beer selection is perfect! The owners and management have taken care of my family on many occasions and have always given us a great deal on banquets and other events. I highly recommend Terry's for any family event.

Had stayed away from Terry's for awhile, but since the nice cleaning and good beer selection was added we had become regulars over the last 6 months or so. That ended quickly with our experience tonight. Called for a 6pm bar side booth reservation as we know it fills up fast and the rest of the restaurant is not very comfortable, confirmed res at approximately 4:30. We arrived at 5:50, were told the booth which was being held was for a 5:45 reservation so we couldn't have it. That party arrived at 6:00, promptly seated and very warmly welcomed as we stood waiting. I, being livid at this point after having a horrible day as it was, wanted to leave right then, but the hubs had more patience. We walked out at 6:17...with a hardly caring..."Oh, sorry about that." If you cannot uphold your reservations there is a SUPER easy fix.....Don't take them!!

Crab here was pretty gross. Salmon was small and pretty well done. Baked potato wasn't cooked all the way. Service was good but she was overwhelmed by the kitchens mistakes. My brother in laws brisket was super cold. They comped his meal and offered a $20 certificate for next time... Then it took 15 minutes to check out. Meh.

I like the atmosphere here, but the food is just meh. Good place for drinks and appetizers, but if you want a quality dinner for roughly the same price, Luigi's is right down the street. I had the crab legs here on another visit, and they were not fresh, I think they'd been frozen for a long time before they were ever cooked. But I do love their beer cheese dip appetizer. Again, beer and appetizers - good. Entrées - mediocre. And I expect better than that for the prices they charge.

Not sure what people are complaining about. I guess if you expect a cheesy, bright pink, loud chain restaurant with assembly line frozen food, screaming children and servers that sing ridiculous songs, this is not your place! If you're an adult and want a good home-made meal with an amazing beer selection and a classic pub feel, this is where you belong, I will definitely be back!

Ughhhhhh. Terry, why'd you do us so dirty? The food was really overpriced, the food was incorrect and worst of all the service was ATROCIOUS. I ordered the Parmesan Tilapia and I was pretty pumped because I LOVE Tilapia. I probably eat it at least once or twice a week. Whatever they brought me was not Tilapia. I'm not sure if they ran out and substituted it with Cod or a different fish, but it was wrong. I thought, oh well it happens. It wasn't that tasty, but it wasn't terrible. I would have overlooked that but the service was absolutely horrible. The place had maybe 4 tables seated and the bar had a couple people at it. By all industry standards, this place was dead (which should have been a red flag on a Saturday night). Our drinks took 20 minutes every time we ordered and we had to constantly flag our waitress down to even put new drink orders in. Not to mention the food took forever. We also had two separate gift certificates that we wanted to use (we had two couples at the table - so one for each separate bill), and they wouldn't allow us to use them. They said it would be fine if the two couples sat at separate tables and used both, but since we were sitting together, we couldn't use our gift certificates. How does that even make sense?! When we complained about it to the manager she got really defensive and wouldn't do anything about our gift certificates, our poor service, nothing. Hey Terry -- a little courtesy goes a long way. Skip this place, it's not worth the headache!

How is it that only William S. and I are the only ones mentioning the god awful smell of the bathrooms? Urine and old pipe smell is . I need that stuff that coroners use when they come upon a decaying body to eat here. It's one of few places that has a $22 appetizer. The irony of ordering the Lake St. Clair Sampler with absolutely nothing coming from Lake St. Clair. A simple order of cheese sticks that runs $8. Soups all taste from a can or frozen package. The Michigan Cherry Salad seemed to have cranberries in it. We've seen this before at restaurants because they look identical but dried cranberries are considerably cheaper than dried cherries. The Cobb salad is basically like a chef's salad and not like a Cobb at all. When I ordered it, it didn't have bleu cheese but rather diced Swiss or provolone. The lake perch dinner was on the small side for the price. At $16.99, either serve a larger portion or lower the price. Fish and chips were standard. Yeah, they may batter them but the cod is not fresh, it's frozen. At $12.99, it needs to be fresh. I'll take frozen cod for $9.99. The bar does have a decent beer selection, both bottled and draft. Our server was friendly but overly insistent we order something from the bar. I don't know if they have drink quotas to make but we felt she asked too many times. Still a no from the first time you asked young lady. Also, if you have a coupon present it when your server first comes to the table. There seemed to be an issue when we handed to her when the check arrived. This place basically is a bar for locals that just happens to have a restaurant, beyond that, it isn't much. You'll be hard pressed to find anything here that is fresh, particularly the seafood. You just expect more from a lakeside restaurant; at least I do. There are much better restaurants nearby and at or below the price points here.

Don't waste your time. Think of the most mediocre chain restaurant you go to that's got kinda crappy food...but reasonable prices, and then ask yourself what would happen if they had a 60% price increase. Would you still go? I had a coworker that really liked this place and decided to try it out (which I have listened to her in the past and been steered wrong...not sure why I didn't learn my lesson). As a few people mentioned...the parking is terrible. This was a Monday evening...maybe 7 PM or so. I finally found a spot (not sure it really was a spot) and walked in. I was a tad surprised at the prices of some of the food...but figured whatever...if it's good it's worth it, right? We started with a beer cheese appetizer. Unfortunately, this decent but not great appetizer was the best part of the meal. I got prime rib and my friend got salmon. Neither was appetizing at all. His salmon was overcooked and had not a scrap of taste. I liked the small side of potatoes more than the prime rib, and neither was good. My friend told them, but neither the server or manager seemed interested in making it right. In fairness, he was asked if he wanted something else, but almost in an annoyed tone. At that point, he was scared to send it back! The service was in the acceptable range but just barely there. The server hadn't seemed to have tried anything on the menu and just told us selections that were "popular." She wasn't very attentive, but not entirely unacceptable. Just not quite at the mark that most restaurants in this price range would give. The reason this place gets one star instead of two though is food to price ratio. The prices are pretty unreasonable for the portion size and quality you receive. The food was so bad, my friend and I now call it "Terry's Travesty." If you ever feel the desire to come here, go to the place you thought of at the top of this post. You'll save money, and you might even get better food.

MINIMAL WEEKEND SELECTIONS UNTIL 2 ! Went in on the weekend at 1:30.. they are now serving a weekend brunch, mostly breakfast foods and i believe 4 sandwiches. Regular menu service kicks in at 2. Now our waitress was great and able to get us some regular menu items before 2. Most folks walking in at 1pm I believe won't be looking for breakfast. Also what is up with fries Not included with some sandwiches on the weekends ? They're included during the week UP TO a certain time. Seems a bit off to me.

After avoiding the place for two years (couldn't stand the bug-light yellow bulbs throughout the place) we returned to Terry's tonight for dinner. The bug lights are gone! I had the Texas beef brisket, she had the half-rack baby back ribs. We both ordered redskin potatoes and a salad each. No bread basket was offered by our heavily-inked server. Stee-rike 1! The same barbecue sauce was used on our entrees and it was mild and sweet. A range of sauces would have been nice, but it was okay. The redskins were not. They were seasoned American fries; the kind that are usually served at breakfast. Stee-rike 2! My brisket came with the worlds' smallest cornbread, but that was a blessing, as it wasn't very good. Terry's claims 50 beers on tap...but not at the same time. At least ten were marked as 'out', but the brown ale pint I chose was very good. So dinner is done and we're skipping dessert...now comes the interesting part. A local coupon offer for Terry's said "Buy one dinner and get one dinner free (up to $10). That's fine.. What it didn't say was "two drink minimum", and my one beer came up short. She ordered a lemonade and they honored the coupon, barely avoiding a 3rd strike. Summary: we may be back in another year or two...then again, this area doesn't lack for restaurants.

Huge beer menu which is good enough for me and ly of people. If you are out in this way would recommend it. The food is a little more on the high side and pretty seafood-ish so I'd check menu to see if something interests you first.

The service was kinda bad. I ordered a burger for 10$, came with some nasty cole slaw soup as I was calling it. I ordered the burger medium, and it came out looking like a hockey puck. It was so well done all I tasted was charred meat that black carbon taste. The Burger was suppose to be a half pound looked more like a quarter pound if that. I ate the whole thing and was still really hungry. The cooks here suck, they can't even cook a burger medium, maybe they should just serve seafood because apparently that's all they know how to cook. I hate getting shafted on food, it literally pisses me off, especially when I could have gone down the street to Travis and got actually good food with larger portions and cheap prices. The only good thing about this place was the beercade and their ok beer selection. I will definitely never ever ever come back.

I've been here three times now, and only eaten once... I tried their clam chowder (available only Friday and Saturday) and wasn't impressed. Not only was it pricey (I think it was $6?), but it was WAY overly thick. It didn't taste *bad*, but it was definitely bland. Not impressed. Everything else on the menu, as far as food is concerned, is also too expensive. If I'm here, I have a couple beers (very nice list that's always changing) and leave. Good for the craft beer drinker, not much of a gastropub. Just be aware that the prices overall are too high.

Had the brunch menu Sunday. Ordered the Belgium waffles and eggs Benedict. All were ice cold. Manager just put them in the microwave instead of making a fresh order. Plates were dirty. Bill came to 65 dollars. Manager just gave us a credit for 20 dollar credit on our next visit. Which will never happen.

Wow, after reading the reviews I'm a bit surprised. Here's my take: We came in the back door from the parking lot. The first thing I noticed was the horrible smell of bathroom...yes, bathroom - it was gross. It was something you would expect from a crappy corner bar. We waited 25 minutes for a table. We wanted to try something new and we heard good things about this place. We had a great waiter. He was a kind, expeditious waiter who did a good job. My wife and I both had fish. She had the beer battered and I had the regular. They were both delicious. I had mashed potatoes and they were delicious. The cole slaw was also delicious. Certainly, it's not a modern place. It's old, a bit rundown and in a funky location. The place was slam packed on a friday night. It was loud. Not my normal kind of place for sure. The food was great, the service was great. The surroundings, not so great. We'll probably go back!

I came here to see the "BeerCade" and was disappointed. They have some cool arcade machines but they don't work very well and it's literally just arcade machines lined up in the back of the restaraunt. If you want to appeal to gamers (like myself) you need to decorate that place up and make sure the machines work. The craft beer selection is okay--I ordered a flight. They gave me the smallest glasses ever (is this a glass for ants?!) and to top it off, the beer was warm. The bartender didn't know anything about the different beers and couldn't explain them to me. I ordered their fish and chips and the fish was bland and greasy. It was like 13 bucks too! I don't mind paying for good food but this was expensive diner food. Seriously, you guys need to step up your game here.

This place used to be great when the elderly couple owned it and worked there. My last three visits have been horrible across the board. The food was horrible, the service was horrible and unprofessional and the place was dirty. It seems like they were really focused on selling craft beers but didn't have any knowledge of the beers. The whole place is just horrible.

Went to Terry's Terrace for their much touted Sunday Brunch. Wow, sorry to say I expected much more. I have eaten their several times over the years and usually just a steak or prime rib at the bar which is pretty decent. I do love their big cobb salad and generally get one of these instead of the house salad. But breakfast was not that great. Only a few items on the menu. I went with the beef brisket egg dish. Wasn't sure if it was supposed to be an omelet or scramble but one thing for certain you will need a magnifying glass to spot any brisket at all so really no flavor or texture. Only two stars for the breakfast effort.

Brace yourselves. My friends and I went for the free arcade Monday night. My scene's usually the WAB, The Loving Touch, etc. But cheap beer and free arcade! I thought the term "Beercade" would imply an actual arcade, not a tiny handful of old arcade games from the late 70s-90s. But it was fine because we were already tipsy when we got there, the games were free, and nostalgia took over. So even though some of the games weren't working at optimal level, it was still fairly enjoyable. After a few games, we went to the bar. I had an amaretto sour and it was only $4! I've never had it that cheap before. Nothing but positive feelings at the moment. We moved from the bar and sat in a booth, ready to order more drinks and snacks. At first our server, a cute blonde haired girl with glasses, was really nice. They stopped serving food by the time we decided to order some. One of my friends was really bummed out because she really wanted to eat and didn't realize the bar would stop serving food so early. This server brought out some chips and salsa anyway. We thought that was really great of her. We ordered more drinks. I originally just wanted an Angry Orchard but all they had was Wood Chuck. That was fine. I changed my mind completely and said I wanted a White Russian. After laughing and quoting Big Lebowski with my friends, my drink was the last to come out. But when it came out, it was just a glass of vodka. I was really surprised. Our server noticed my silent and unpleasant surprise and asked if it was wrong. I calmly and politely noted that White Russians don't typically look like clear vodka. She realized she had forgotten the cream. I handed her my drink back to fix. I observed that the drink wasn't re-done. The full vodka was still in the glass, just with added heavy cream. I noted that it still didn't have the flavor of a White Russian. I asked the server if we could possibly add vanilla vodka and/or Kahlua. Maybe even some type of coffee liquor. I was merely asking. I wasn't trying to make her job more difficult. I just wanted my drink right, especially since I'm paying for it. The server had an argumentative tone, insisting that White Russians typically don't have vanilla vodka or Kahlua. Vanilla vodka isn't typically used, but I would have liked it. But I knew for sure that Kahlua was generally used in White Russians. Regardless of what the actual recipe is, I'm sure it can be universally agreed that White Russians don't stop at a glass full of vodka with a half shot of heavy cream. I didn't want to take any more time away from the server so I told her that I'll just drink my drink. It's fine. Don't worry about it. After the polite, "Are you sure?" She walked away and talked to the other patrons. When it was time to pay, the bill came back for $9 for my White Russian. Sure, I was a little pissed off. My drink was messed up multiple times. And after having other cheap cocktails that night for about $4-6, for that particular White Russian that wasn't even right to be $9 seemed ridiculous. But whatever. I decided it was fine. I gave the server my $20. At this part, I admit to being at fault. I was a little drunk and thought for whatever reason that the server took some of my change for her tip because it's happened to me before in other bars. I took my change and walked off to the arcade, thinking that she had already been tipped. While I was playing pinball with my friends, that same server from across the arcade room screamed, "YOU'RE RUDE" in front of all the patrons. It was almost a full house. I didn't realize she had been yelling at me, since I was nothing short of cordial and polite to her despite her ruining my drink multiple times and being nowhere to be found when we really needed her. But when I looked over at her, she had been pointing at me and screamed again, "YOU'RE RUDE!" Then she proceeded to loudly complain about me to her other patrons throughout the night. The music was up, there was chatter about, and we could all still hear her. She was intentionally loud enough for us to be able to. So, that's when I realized that I hadn't tipped her from listening to her. I had no idea. I felt horrible. I normally tip 20-40% anywhere I went. But at that point, I felt too awkward and angry to tip her. Plus, I had less money than I thought I should have had. My friend ended up tipping her for me. The server kindly said, "Oh, that's not really necessary." In response, my friend angrily said, "Then quit your bitching." She didn't take my friend's advice. I still feel horrible for accidentally not tipping, as I always tip over 20% but the server's reaction was ridiculous. And the manager was nowhere. My friends wanted to seek him out to get the server fired. I said we shouldn't and we left quietly and politely. The server really ruined the experience and we left for a better environment. Maybe someday we'll be back. Maybe.

I consistently have gone here for 2 years mostly during the summer months while I am in Michigan, usually weekly and have found the food to be consistently very good and haven't encountered a bad server yet. Frank is an absolute GEM though, so friendly and has great recommendations. Best items are the Shandy Fish & Chips (in the summer only) and the mussels were great. I love the pretzel sandwiches and burgers and the clam chowder is truly excellent. The only holdback on 5 stars is I've had some items that weren't stellar, but still enjoyable, and I think a few things are a tad overpriced. Some waiters aren't that great about bringing bread, but that's really a minor complaint. One of my consistent favorite places to go.

Well what can i say about Terry's Terrance. I have been there 4 times in the 11 years i have lived in the area and all 4 times i have had a bad to horrible experience. Now i haven't been there in a year seeing that my last trip was disgusting. Here is the problem i had. My family and brother in law went there because we won a gift certificate to the place. Might as well burn it for a free night out, I should have just burned it. The first alert should have been when my BIL ordered the Shepard's Pie and the waitress told him he shouldn't because it was disgusting looking and had left over ingredients from a couple days before. Really Terry's...you server that kind of stuff to your patrons. All of the food we had from that point forward was either cold or dipped in a grease batter. I seriously have never seen so much grease on a plate after I ate something. Just not a good food experience for those who were in attendance. Historically I have found this from my other trips as well. The staff was fine just a little slow but maybe i come in on off days. Hey at least the Beer was good. There are other places in town to eat that are much better, McDonalds comes to mind.

This essentially a bar with a restaurant attached which isn't necessarily bad but tells you a bit about the atmosphere. The food is a little above average for a bar but mostly frozen fair with huge servings (go hungry). The last two times I went they must have changed the company they were getting their frozen food from because the batter was much thicker and bland. Decent beer selection but short wine list. Just an okay place.

Love all the new changes, great energetic staff. Seafood is good, Prices are fine. Not a dive so do not expect dive prices. Good place for the water rats to hang out after coming in off the boat.

Was just their last weekend for an early dinner. I had chicken fajita's and they were horrible. Chicken was dry and over cooked, veggies on the plate were barely cooked and the whole thing came out cold, along with the tortillas, which you could tell they did not bother to heat up at all. Husband had a Michigan salad, which I ended up sharing with him. That was great. They would have gotten one star if it wasn't for that great salad.

Went there for Valentines Day. They just finished remodeling and I thought it looked fun and friendly. Staff and management showed an interest in us and how things were from start to finsh. Husband said his burger and fries were ok/good my steak was perfect and their zip sauce was amazing. I love zip sauces and never had one like theirs. We will definately be going back.

I don't understand why people like this place? Its way over priced and the food is terrible. When a 7 year old complains about chicken nuggets and the awful smell of the restaurant that's pretty bad. I've tried this place a few times, I give up.

Beer and Drinks are great and also the environment is cool. One of my favorite places to grab drinks with buddies. But...the food is horrible. Unless you like deep fired bar food or dried over cooked main courses covered in GFS sauces I would recommend skipping the food and trying the beer selection instead.

Great beer list! Decent food selection. I had coconut shrimp which was very yummy. My boyfriend chose a pasta dish which was not so great. We decided that it's the kind of place where you should probably stick to seafood. Service was great. I like that you can sign up for text messages that give you discounts, so when we went we got half off our appetizer via digital coupon. The ambience was ok. Eating there made you feel that you were in some sort of seaside tourist town. Not really my style. Overall it was a good experience, but I think the only thing that will actually get me back in there is if I get a really good offer via text for half off my bill or something similar.

What a great location for an excellent place to eat and drink. The help here is so awesome, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. The manager (I heard the name Char) is great. The food however is no good, I love the crab I do, but the rest falls FLAT on every level, we will go back for beers, trivia and crab but that will be it.

Super disappointed. Went there for lunch at 12 and many menu items were not ready to be served, soup, potatoes, etc. over priced and Portion sizes were super small and served cold. The perch looked like guppies and the rice was too hard to even eat. Never going back.

Used to go to Terry's for the Endless Crablegs a couple time/year. Was there Monday and was pretty disappointed. Crablegs were SUPER salty. Coming from the ocean we expect them to be...but what pushed them over the top was the over-abundance of seasoning (likely Old Bay) that was used. Not good! Salad wasn't fresh and potato looked and tasted like it had been cooked then reheated. Service started out really slow, which was inexplicable because there was lots of staff and very few patrons, but improved a little as the meal progressed. Overall, I'm not sure I'd go there again.

Good and bad here, but overall a good experience. Helpful accomidating waitperson, but didnt refill glasses or clear plates accordingly. The whole family and the au pair went and the kids all ate free and we had a coupon for an additional $9.00 off. I liked that a lot. The place was really full for a Wednesday. The food was pretty good, liked the soup a lot. I will be back.

Digusting!! In everyway possible!! First off the waitresses dress like strippers(unsanitary).. I asked the waitress "hows the fish n chips?' She replied "the best ever" so, I order the fish n chips which takes about half an hour to come out, they are mearly fish sticks and the WORST Ive EVER had, so, I tell the waitress 'these are not "the best ever" and, she replied Oh Well I dont eat fish!! Lmao! Needless to say this place is only good for drinks if that, the prices are outrageous, I dont know why anyone would like this place..

I don't often review restaurants but Terry's Terrace was so particularly bad that I feel obligated to let the populace know not to eat there; here is how the meal went down. It was easter sunday; my family and I decided to go here for dinner we had made reservations earlier in the week for 2:30 pm we spoke to "Brandy" on the phone. When we arrived we were told that we had no reservation and that they do not take reservations on half hours, but they would seat us anyway. After we were seated our waitress swung by the table and stated that she would be right with us; 20 minutes later a different waitress came by and said that even though she was busy and that we were not in our section that she would wait on us. After we placed our drink order there was another 15 minute wait on our drinks; keep in mind they were not that busy there were many open tables and no wait at the door. Once our drinks were served we placed our orders, after 20 more minutes our soups and salads arrived. I had french onion soup that I couldn't eat because it was too salty, my mother had cole slaw that was too salty as well; she had my father taste it and he spit it back onto the plate, my sister had a salad and the greens were wilted and slimy. After this course there was another 30 minute wait, in which we finally asked the waitress were our food was. the waitress seemed frazzled and came back with the entrees 5 minutes or so later (also at this point she has not refilled a single drink). She explained when she came back that the plates were extremely hot, I explained to her that the plates were so hot due to the fact that our meals had been sitting under the heat lamp for quite some time: my pasta was dry on top, my dad's and gradma's steaks had mushrooms on top that resembled dried mushrooms the kind that have to be re-hydrated to be used and both steaks were severely overcooked. I told the waitress that we were not going to eat these meals and she volunteered to get the manager. while she was gone I watched a cook from the kitchen come out in grungy jeans and a knit cap wearing vinyl gloves and holding a couple of food tickets, he went to ask one of the other servers a question; his appearance was disgusting and did not make me want to eat anyways. When the manager came to the table she offered to remake all the food, but we did not feel like waiting another hour and fifteen mintutes for our entrees so we decided to leave. We told the manager that we would just like to pay for our beverages and leave. A good manager at this point would have said "the beverages are on the house" or offered a gift card or something, but instead she brought us our bill for $12 and change. I grabbed the bill and went up to the front of the restaurant and confronted her. She said that she was being kind enough to not charge us for our meals and that there seemed to be "no pleasing us" clearly we were being unreasonable. I also commented on he fact that I watched the manager take a plate of food and drinks to the table of another patron, and that she was wearing false nails that had a brightly colored red or orange paint on them; I commented that this was against the law according to the State of Michigan Food Law. I was then told by the manager that she knew the food law in and out and that I was incorrect. the part that I forgot to mention to her as that I am a state certified food safety instructor. The state of Michigan FDA food code article 2-302.11 states "Unless wearing intact gloves in good repair, a food employee may not wear fingernail polish or artificial fingernails when working with exposed food." and in case you were wondering plates of food count as "exposed food". so with all of these things combined our easter was less than fun. in closing the service at Terry"s Terrace is terrible and the food is worse, do your self a favor and don't eat here, and if you do don't say I didn't warn you.

I love my seafood and I am not talking about Red Lobster kiddies. This place is really NOTHING to look at from the inside or outside. I don't care about decorations when something so lovely comes out on my plate. Full bar here with drink specials always is such a nice touch if you are a lush like myself. :) Prefood bread with the sweet honey cinnamon butter and you are just getting started. Order your cut of fish out of a long list to choose from and it will come to you and almost make you weep. I love the Cajun swordfish, I know high in mercury..but it's so worth. Great appetizer would be the oyster Rockefeller, can make a meat and potato man ask if you want that last one. I eat here often. Not only is the swordfish great, the crabby chicken is something else too. Chicken stuffed with crab with a creamy sauce. All the veggies with the meal are always prepared well and are full flavor and fresh-tasting. This place is all about the food. I do know they have tons of different types of beer on draft, and if you try them all you get your name on a plaque (call a taxi though!). When I walked in, I was not very impressed but once I started eating I changed my tune. The waitress always offers to bring out the dessert tray; I never have enough room to even look...sometimes that is exactly what the chef would want to hear.

This typical eastside bar/restaurant lures you in with promo coupons and a seemingly interesting menu, but you may not wish to stay for too long once you arrive. Many of the items, including the all you can eat fish for $17.99 seem a bit overpriced, and the quality is just so so. Many typical sides or dressings have extra charges which I find tacky, too. I mean, how can clam chowder be $3.59 extra when the meal comes with soup? If you want a twice baked potato, that's extra too, $2.99. To top all of this off, we waited nearly 25 minutes just to get our salad and nearly an hour for our average meal. Did I mention that their promo coupon didn't work because one of us ordered the all you can eat fish for $17.99? In case you didn't notice, $17.99 for fish and chips is no deal! To be fair, the manager adjusted things and really seemed sincere about wanting to make us happy, but I just feel bad for him and our server because they have to enforce these ridiculous charges and policies. Who wants to go to a place that nickels and dimes you then makes you wait an unreasonable amount of time for average food? Seriously, I say skip Terry's.

This is third time here at the establishment. I've done early lunch, late lunch and dinner. All three experiences have been less than great. Wait staff during lunch was ok. Dinner staff was better. I order the Philly chz steak both times during two different hours of lunch. The first time it was dry and flavorless. I gave it ago a second time and the same thing. Dinner, I purchased their famous prime rib. Ordered it medium, it came back slightly under well... asked for their zip sauce or au jus sauce and both were also flavorless... not sure if it's the cooks or the recipes they have I'm a resident of htp. A little disappointed

Okay, so this restaurant is not on the water.....negative one.....we head in and sit down and there is a screaming kid so we move over to the bar side of the restaurant......We were impressed with the amount of beers on tap..... We ordered the Potato Soup, good.....the Terry Burger, good and the 2 pc. over priced fish & chips.....bad.....rubbery and skimpy for $11.99 The free popcorn was okay....I would not recommend this eatery....unless it is for a beer and a burger...

Terry's is way up the "coast" in Harrison Township. It's kind of a funny location with the "Sentimental Lady" bar across the street advertising $2 burgers, and a trailer park behind the parking lot. OK. They have a pretty big parking lot, and I've never had a problem getting a spot. Inside they have a long bar area, some high booths on the bar side and the "dining area", and then a little corner off the bar that they do live trivia games with an announcer that you can hear through the whole restaurant (which was kind of distracting). I usually get the perch there because I like how they saute it with garlic, and not just the standard batter presentation. You can get 5 or 7 pieces, and the 5 is usually perfect for me. This last time I also got the lobster bisque soup, which was really good. Sumptuously smooth and a nice little chunk of lobster in the middle of it. I ate at the bar this time and they have a pretty impressive, and somewhat expensive, selection of beers. I got a 23 ounce Sam Adam's Pumpkin Stout, which was delicious, and should be for $7.95! The food is solid, and they usually have some specials like 2 lobster tails for $19.99 that are decent values, but it's easy to run up a pretty hefty bill in here if you get appetizers, soup, and any of the speciality beers. The best move is to get one of the food specials and whatever beer special they're running when you try this place, and you won't break the bank.

Parents Beware! My wife and I were looking to go someplace different for dinner and we saw that there was a coupon for ten bucks off for dinner for four. We arrived there and we're happy to see kids meals were $3.99. Pretty reasonable right? So my two kids ordered chicken fingers with lemonade. My wife ordered the famous fish and chips while I had the chicken club tacos. Our food arrived and my tacos were actually a quesadilla, that was grilled with the lettuce and tomato already on it. Who likes hot lettuce? My wife's fish and chips were decent but not world famous by any stretch. So we finish our meal and I ask for the check. I was shocked to see that our final total was around $60.00 including the $10.00 discount. What could make this dinner so expensive? Well each kids meal did not include the $2.50 per kids lemonade. Come on! If that wasn't bad enough we were charged around $9.00 each for my and my wife's beers. I had a "booma" of dirty blonde, which was actually served in a typical pilsner glass. My wife had a 10 oz. tulip of framboise. What a rip. I could buy a 12 pack of dirty blonde for $12.99. I really feel like Terry's hoodwinked us and we will not be going back.

This was the worst experience ever, first I get a card for my birthday say $7.00 off as a gift. So we go there to celebrate. I order a prime rib sandwich and soup, my husband orders all you can eat shrimp. I knew it was bad when it took forever to have someone even come to our table, then we order soda, she brings it in shot glasses tells us they are out of glasses. My sandwich was terrible basically on a hot dog bun, my husband orders mash potatoes and gravy with his meal, he get mash potatoes no gravy, but we didn't complain because it to 1/2 hour to get the potatoes. All you can eat shrimp starts with 10 small shrimp. He immediately orders more because he know how long it took to get 10, they bring him 5 more 25 minutes later. I start to laugh because now it is actually funny, I think we are being punked. My husband says that he will wait them out that he is not going to let them force him to leave by making him wait so long for 5 small shrimp. He orders again, and gets 5 more this goes on for over 2.5 hours he finally was given a total of 25 shrimp and he gives up. I then give them my coupon for my dinner and they proceed to tell me it is no good because my husband ordered shrimp, really.... they stat it is not good with the special. I said I didn't order the special I order a sandwich and soup, they them me if anyone at the table regardless of separate bills orders a special no one else at the table can use a coupon. Now I know we are being punked. I just wanted out of there, 3 hours later and still hungry, the worst birthday ever. Lesson learned, when you walk in and the only people there are at the bar and not eating it should tell you something. Go there to drink, go somewhere else for dinner.

I just can't bring myself to like this place. My boyfriends says they make one of the strongest and best Long Island ice teas that he's ever had, so maybe this is more of a drinking establishment than dining. We stopped here late in the summer because I insisted on trying their Summer Shandy fish and chips. Unfortunately I just found the fish to be extremely greasy and not as tasty as I had hoped. Their fries are good. Always hot and nicely seasoned. The second time we came here I decided to try their buffalo chicken wrap. Yuck. Way too much buffalo sauce that was so hot it just overpowered everything else in the wrap. We also got a beer cheese appetizer that was not very warm, and I wouldn't recommend that again. Come here if you're looking for good drinks and a cozy atmosphere. If you're hungry, stop elsewhere for food!

Went last night and there was a 25 minute wait. We were at the bar trying to order a beer and it took 15 minutes for the bartender to even look in our direction. For a place that prides itself on their beer selection, your bartenders should be friendly and smile and greet their guests promptly and offer their suggestions or sell what's on special. Joke. Proceed to being seated. The floors were filthy dirty, my knife had crusty nonsense on it that wouldn't come off, the forks were dirty. The young guy brought bread over and we had no plates to put the bread on. Uh hello, I shouldn't have to ask for plates for 4 people. The waitress asking us if we would like something to drink as she sees full glasses of beer we brought from the bar..laughable. Not one but 2 girls asked us. How about pay attention and look down. The food is beyond over priced for the portions served and is really not that good. Unfriendly staff, dirty floor, dirty dishes, too long of a wait at the bar. My advice: go somewhere else. More food, better food at a much lower cost!

In the 90's it was a great place to go- great food for a great price. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but I don't "crave" to go there. I think that places like this put too many choices on a menu so all the food is just "good" not "great" and basically doctored up processed food instead of fresh stuff. Staff is ok. I don't really have a complaint, it's just not a "wow" place.

I have tried this place a few times. After my review was deleted from their facebook I decided it was time to post a yelp. The last time I was there we had the burnt ends. They were absolutely horrible, full of fat and mushy. The waitresses are good its just the quality of the food that sucks. For the prices they charge their food should be of a much higher quality. There are too many other good restaurants around here to ever go there again.

    (1)
  • Jessie M.

It could be better. It apparently used to be better. Not sure why they changed the menus up and made the place seem more like a Chilis than a local bar/restaurant near the lake. But hey, they serve frog legs, perch, and pickerol... so i'm not going to argue.

I remember Terry's Terrace back when it was Terrace Gardens. It was more of an upscale (just barely) establishment back then. I even worked at Terry's busing tables and washing dishes back in the early 80's. I've got a lot of experience with this place. The food is okay. No better than you'd get at any family restaurant for half the price. If you go to Terry's looking for seafood, forget it. It is not anything special. Just because it's close to the water doesn't men their fish comes from it. The best thing to order from Terry's is red meat. Steak, prime rib or a burger is your best bet most days. Service is the same as the food; nothing special. People continue to go to Terry's for one reason: they always have. I think Terry's survives on the overflow of folks that don't want to wait an hour for a table at Luigi's down the street. Wish I could give this place a better review, but I have to be honest, it just so so at best.

The food isn't bad... but this place has really changed. IT used to be a cute little eclectic place where families went and husbands went ot watch the game. I guess the got new owners or something and they tried to make it all clubby. They ruined it. Also, when they went through these changes, I put down a $4 tip, they changed it to $43. Sketchy. Also rude when I wanted it fixed. I miss the old Terry's. That would have gotten 4 stars, easy. Also the parking lot is the size of a matchbox. Cant stand it.

Used to eat here all the time, in fact since I was a wee child. I have always lived nearby and have watched the place change from a decent restaurant with a bit of nostalgia for me, into some pseudo-club-boater hang out. Food and service seem secondary. Before 'Terry' was the actual owner and was a friendly man with a great menu. No longer is that true. I guess come here on the weekend to party...not to eat. There is a reason why they have coupons in the paper all the time.

I loved the beer selection! We had the endless perch for dinner and it was quite tasty. The cole slaw was absolutely nothing to write home about. I tried some of my fiance's fries and thought they were better than my day-old baked potato but would try to get a vegetable over and above those two.

I am not into eating at bars for a meal but I sucked it up for a friend. This is a bar first and foremost. It smells like a bar, its dark and dingy like a bar. Keep in mind its a bar- not a restaurant- I wish I would have realized that before hand. Anywho... half the food was horrible, half the food was good. I had the Lobster Bisque Soup ($6) which was actually pretty good! The bread rolls were actually rocks disguised as rolls. If you like less than fresh iceberg lettuce with some croutons then you'll love their salad. The New York Strip I ordered was cooked as desired and tasted half way decent- the au jus was this maple syrup concoction that I loved. Please pass on the twice baked potato. If you like a ridiculously strong Flaming Spanish Coffee that tastes like a mix of Black Licorice Liqueur and Orange Liqueur then you are weird but you'll love this drink. Nearly the same meal was had by my dinner date and the total with tip $70. This totally burns me up. I won't be eating here again.

I came here on a Saturday before a wedding back in May. I should've made a reservation because we waited almost an hour and a half to get a table. I understand how busy the place was but whoever was keeping charge of the hostess area was kind of a bitch about making us have a clear area for whoever to walk though..this was almost impossible with out gluing ourselves to the wall. I ordered the stuffed shrimp ( Not sure of the exact name) and it was really good but I thought it was pretty expensive for four pieces. Our table all ordered a variety of dinners...salad, sandwich, pasta, chicken, etc. When the food arrived my SALAD was not brought out. I was pretty annoyed because the salad is the EASIEST meal to throw together and I waited an extra 10 minutes for it while I watched the rest of my table eat. The waitress was not up to par either with making sure we had everything we needed. As I write this my annoyance about how difficult it was for them to make a salad to bring out on time with the rest of the entrees is coming back. I won't be stopping back here again anytime soon since the simple things are too difficult for this place. I also suggest they consider having an awning placed outside the restaurant so people do not have to stand in the rain waiting for valet to get their cars. The restaurant is too small to be able to wait inside.

So I guess the million dollar question is, just how far back do you have to go to get to the point where this place "used" to be good... because my experience was like John C's, more or less... I've been there quite a fews over a pretty good span (close to 10 years) and nothing has ever wowed me. I'll be fair to the new owner, he's done a lot to market the place to get new people in there (and no doubt bring some of the old ones back) and I've been there more times under the old owner than the new one. There's not a lot to say about it... if you're on the side of town, this is fine for drinks or appetizers. Unless you have bad service (which can happen here) I don't think most people will walk out of here saying they'd never come back... but I don't think they'll be in a hurry to do it either. I think if this placed billed itself more as bar and less as a restaurant... i.e. cheaper drink and food prices, catering to the blue collar crowd in that area, etc... expectations would be more readily met and the reviews would go up proportionally. 2.5 stars.
